Alexandra Hayman and Camilla Bracchi Diaz met a decade ago on a website made for conversation exchanges, while Camilla was in Italy, and Alexandra was in the U.S. As you may have guessed they exchanged Italian and English - and it was friendship at first pronoun! Some time after, Alexandra moved to Italy where they met in person and kept in touch. Since then, Ale and Camy have remained good friends.
Now Alexandra (on the left) is the founder and owner of Calacuni, an import business for artisan, handcrafted ceramics from Sicily. Their ceramics represent traditions that date back as far as 2400 BC, and embody techniques and styles from all those that occupied the island. Each piece is handcrafted and deeply rooted in time, giving you a unique connection to Italian culture. Ale has a passion for bringing undiscovered artisan ceramic products into people’s lives. Behind every piece at Calacuni there is a story: A story of an artist, a story of an ancient technique, and a story of a romantic mix of cultures.
